Unicorn Pancakes for Breakfast!

The unicorn trend is showing no signs of slowing down and is now even helping bring some magic to your breakfast!

One of my favorite things about this recipe if using fresh produce to add some color into our pancakes! (no need for artificial dye)

Here’s what you’ll need for the recipe:

  • 135 g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 130ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Natural Food Dyes

Pink

What you need:

  • 3 baby beats (pre-cooked) or 1 small beet, chopped and cooked (approx. ¾ cup chopped)
  • 1/2 cup water

In a blender combine beets and water and blend until smooth. Then, strain mixture through a cheesecloth. Once strained, pour liquid into a small container, cover and refrigerate. Discard pulp.

Orange

What you need:

  • 3 carrots (peeled and cut in halves or thirds)
  • 1/2 cup water

In a blender combine carrots and water and blend until smooth. Add more water as needed. Then, strain mixture through a cheesecloth. Once strained, pour liquid into a small container, cover and refrigerate. Discard pulp.

Yellow

What you need:

  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 cup water

In a small saucepan simmer turmeric and water for approximately 2 or 3 minutes. Then, remove from heat and allow to cool. Pour into a small container, cover and refrigerate.

Green

What you need:

  • 1 and 1/2 cups fresh spinach
  • 1/2 cup water

In a small saucepan simmer spinach and water for approximately 2 minutes. Then, remove from heat and pour into blender. Blend until smooth, adding more water as needed. Then strain mixture through a cheesecloth. Once strained, pour liquid into a small container, cover and refrigerate. Discard pulp.

Once the mix is ready, divide your batter into 5 or 6 bowls. Pour some of your food dyes into each bowl and mix until you have the desired colors, adding a bit more flour to thicken batter if needed. Then just make pancakes as normal, stack up and serve! Just look at how magical these turned out!

This is a fun activity to do with your kids, to teach them about veggies and how many cool things you can do with them. Its a great way to teach them how the most beautiful colors come from nature! And why not have a great time and fun breakfast with this delicious stack of unicorn rainbow pancakes! To have the full Unicorn experience, don’t forget to wear her favorite Unicorn PJ for the occasion!

5 de Mayo Noomie Style

5 the Mayo is the perfect chance to teach your little ones a little bit about our history and for them to learn about different cultures.

The idea is to make history a little bit more fun for the kids, so instead of just reading the story you could try having a mexican night with some typical food: tacos, quesadillas and maybe a piñata. Wear a cool Mexican themed noomie  PJ and take a few seconds to seat on the carpet sing and read the story of 5 de Mayo…then you can tell the kids to reenact the story.

Here is the story you can read to the kids:

Cinco de Mayo is the celebration of the courage of the Mexican people during the battle (La Batalla de Puebla) on May 5th, 1862 where 4,500 Mexican soldiers defeated the Mexican traitors and French army of 6,500 at Puebla, Mexico. Puebla is 100 miles east of Mexico City. The Mexican forces were made up of untrained commoners. This victory did not win the war but it showed the courage and strength of the Mexican troops. The “Batalla de Puebla” became a symbol of Mexican unity and patriotism.

After Mexico gained its independence from Spain in 1821, the country was faced with many problems. There were internal power struggles and during the dictatorship of Santa Anna, Mexico went to war with the United States in 1846. This war and the years of fighting put Mexico in a very bad financial position. It was bankrupt. Mexico had to give away a huge portion of its land to the United States. That land is now known as Texas.

Matching PJS: A Fun and Easy Way To Create Family Bonds

We love seeing our matching sibling concept in each of our costumers’ homes, from a creative way for moms to introduce a newborn baby into the family to a pajama party. By dressing kids in matching outfits, siblings get to experience a sense of belonging, and moms get to take the perfect and shareable picture of #matchingsiblings.

Perfect picture and hashtags aside, experts agree that the matching outfit concept is a winner! Mijal Eisen, LCSW, behavioral therapist and co-founder of TimE Emotional Guidance Center says “Matching outfits for siblings is a fun and easy way to foster a sense of unity and belonging between individuals of a family unit. I believe Baby Noomie does an amazing job at portraying such traits through their unique designs that are not only age appropriate, gentle and modern, but also their quality makes my son ask for their Pjs every single night!”

A very special day is right around the corner… Valentine’s Day!!

We have a secret family recipe and we want to share it with you:

Recipe for Valentine’s Day

1. Have breakfast with the family.
Most days we don’t get to do this because everyone has a different hour to go out, but let’s change that for today! Enjoy some yummy eggs with bacon, fresh orange juice and a toast, a breakfast of champions to start the day in the right way.

2. Tell you kids you love them!
As moms we certainly do this on a daily basis, but lets really take a moment to tell our kids how much we love them and make sure they notice that. Here’s another tip: write a post it with a lovely note and send it inside their lunch box, so they will get a surprise to light up their day.

3. Cancel the baby sitter, it’s all about sam today!
We know is Valentine’s and you want to go out with a special someone, but what if date night is on another day and instead you spend extra time with your kids! Cancel the baby sitter and cherish the little moments.

4. Finally, make some heart shaped cookies and enjoy 😋
Everyone loves a good cookie, make them with a twist and show some love with a heart shape. This can also be a good afternoon plan, baking with the fam is always fun and delicious!

We hope this ancient recipe works for you too!

Btw before we go! This is the perfect day to show your kids you love them by dressing them with the “To the moon and back footie or PJ, because on February 14th (and the whole year) we love our little ones to the moon and back!
